Geoff Hayward is Professor (Emeritus) of Education at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Pembroke College. Originally a research biologist, he subsequently taught in Further Education Colleges and has been involved in the training and education of teachers across both Primary and Secondary phases at the Universities of Oxford, Leeds and Cambridge. He was Director of Research at the University of Oxford’s Department of Education, the Head of the School of Education at Leeds (2011-2013) and Head of the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge from 2014-2019, and again in 2022. As a result, he has experience of managing large complex organisations with large numbers of staff and substantial multi-million-pound budgets. He is a visiting professor at the Bundes Institut fur Beruf and Bildung in Bonn, Germany.
